When someone is certain about something, might she/he be wrong?
This is one of the fundamental problems regarding the relation between states of mind and reality.
1. No, so when she/he is wrong, therefore she/he hasn’t been absolutely certain.
2. Yes, because there is no necessary connnection between reality and someone’s thoughts about this reality.
The first sentence could be dangerous.
The second – could be depressing.
None of them seems to be evidently false.
A meta question:
How certain could be thoughts on certainty?
